Mont Joly Snow

Plenty of snow recently has brought great sking conditions to St Gervais, but bad visibility is keeping the crowds away - more snow for us!

I was out for a couple of hours yesterday afternoon and dashed from Plateau de La Croix up to Mont Joly to check out conditions there. There is lots of snow about, which also meant that the Grand Chamois was shut - although I think this was mainly because visibility was nearly zero! Off piste under the chair lift Mont Joly there was waist deep powder snow, I had reports from a boarding friend after I had got back down, and missed it!

Generally the snow conditions on piste are good soft snow with fluffy stuff on top, as long as you steer clear of the popular stepp close to resort runs like Guoet and some runs down to the Plateau de la Croix, where there is still some hard ice around.

The top of the resort now has over 2 meters of snow so conditions should stay good for some time to come, and we still have more snow forcast!
