It is now officialy spring and it certainly feels like it in St Gervais. Three weeks of hot wet weather have reduced the pistes to a sorry state in most of the Evasion ski Domain, as the snow line rapidly rises.
What a difference a couple of weeks can make, but don’t get too down as there is still some skiing to be had, with even some snow fall above 1600m in the last few days. Snow conditions are ’spring’ corn with slush as the day progresses and some runs are marginal. The best area at the moment is Rochbrun where the snow higher up was still fairly good with a good covering. As is normal it is the lower areas that are having most problems keeping the snow cover. St Nicolas is still open but only just! Comblou low down is now a medow as is Jaillet. Else where there are many pistes still with good snow cover giving great late season skiing.
Les Contamines still looks in good shape and this is always the best bet for late season skiing. I’ll give a full report next week after I have skied over there.
